Who We Are
Connie Côté, Chief Executive Officer
Connie has extensive experience in the health sector, coming to HCCC from the Canadian Lung Association, where she served as Senior Director. She has demonstrated great success in bringing varied stakeholders together, most significantly as the Senior Director of the National Lung Health Framework. She brings a strong background in public policy, very relevant to HCCC's strategic focus.
She has also worked for the Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice Kingston and the New Hope Senior Citizen's Day Centre. Connie holds a Masters of Human Systems Intervention from Concordia University and is fluently bilingual.
Helena Sonea, Manager, Operations and Strategic Initiatives
Helena is a graduate of the critical disability studies program at York University. Additionally, Helena is a founding member of the Young Non-Profit Professionals Network, Ottawa chapter and is a current board member. As well, she sits on the advisory committee for Citizen Advocacy’s children sibling program which she also facilitates. The program is a recreational-therapeutically based program to break down barriers between parents and siblings of children with a disability in their household and to create more awareness about the sibling experience of children with disabilities at the community level. Helena also recently published a report and resource guide with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers on inclusive education and disability in Canada, the goal of which was to provide more accessible resources for parents of children with disabilities.
